Caroline Fulton (b.1984), Scottish
“Buffalo & Ox Pecker”, original ink and watercolour
£180.00
Out of stock
“This is a stunning ink and watercolour painting depicting a powerful buffalo head with an Ox Pecker bird perched on its horns, rendered in Fulton’s loose, gestural style using layered washes, splatter, and ink line.
The patterned background, inspired by African textile traditions, adds subtle contrast and decorative texture.
Signed by the artist and presented in a natural wood frame with mount. A striking contemporary wildlife study combining African subject matter with modern illustrative technique.”
Caroline Fulton is a contemporary artist whose work explores wildlife, pattern and cultural symbolism through painting and mixed media. She studied at Newcastle University, graduating in 2004, and has since developed a practice combining animal subjects with decorative motifs inspired by different cultural traditions.
Fulton lived in Morocco from 2007 to 2013, a period that had a strong influence on her artistic direction. During this time she began incorporating traditional decorative patterns and textiles into her compositions, pairing wildlife imagery with elements derived from regional craft and design.
Her work has received recognition through the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year competition, where she was selected as a finalist in 2009.
Fulton’s paintings have been exhibited in galleries and arts events in the UK and internationally, and her work is held in private collections around the world, including by H.R.H. of Morocco and the conservationist Dame Jane Goodall DBE.
Through her combination of wildlife subjects, cultural pattern and symbolic design, Fulton’s work reflects an ongoing exploration of the relationship between nature, place and cultural identity.
