“This is a stunning ink and watercolour painting depicting a powerful buffalo head with an Ox Pecker bird perched on its horns, rendered in Fulton’s loose, gestural style using layered washes, splatter, and ink line.

The patterned background, inspired by African textile traditions, adds subtle contrast and decorative texture.

Signed by the artist and presented in a natural wood frame with mount. A striking contemporary wildlife study combining African subject matter with modern illustrative technique.”

Emma Westwater is a Scottish illustrator and printmaker associated with Dunbar in East Lothian. She is known for producing detailed prints and illustrations that focus on architectural subjects, particularly scenes from Edinburgh and Leith.

Westwater is closely associated with The Makery in Dunbar, a creative studio and workshop space where she has produced and sold her work alongside other designers and makers. The Makery has been an important venue for showcasing her prints and illustrations within the East Lothian arts community.

Her work includes limited edition prints and laser-cut pieces, combining illustration with contemporary digital and laser-cut production techniques. One of her best-known works is the architectural print Window on Leith, which depicts a stylised view of the Leith waterfront framed through a window-like composition.

Westwater’s work has been exhibited and sold through galleries and maker-led venues in East Lothian and Edinburgh, and her prints are collected for their distinctive interpretations of Scottish urban architecture.
