In January 2005 Hendry decided to pursue painting professionally, bringing with him a strong graphic sensibility shaped by his design background.  The influence of this training can be seen in the structure of his compositions and the bold, simplified forms that appear throughout his work.

Hendry works from a studio in Glasgow, where he has been associated with the WASPS Artists’ Studios community, exhibiting regularly in open studio events and group exhibitions.

His paintings have appeared in numerous exhibitions and events across Scotland and the UK. These include shows at Park Gallery in Glasgow, Paisley Gallery, Kelvingrove Art Gallery, and exhibitions connected with galleries such as Ealain Gallery.  Hendry has also taken part in exhibitions at venues including Lauderdale House in London, the Edinburgh Art Fair, and contemporary art sales at McTear’s Auctioneers in Glasgow.

Hendry’s work has also appeared in several art publications. His painting To Kiss Marilyn was included in the book “Marilyn in Art” by Roger Taylor and used in promotional material for the publication. Later works appeared in “Diana in Art”, an internationally released book compiled by Mem Mehmet.

Today Hendry continues to work as a painter from Glasgow, producing figurative and contemporary works that are exhibited in galleries and collected privately in the UK and internationally.

Note: Scots painter Joe Hendry has gone from strength to strength since beginning to paint full time in 2005.
